Fighter Pilot Experience

We invite you to experience a day in the life of a fighter pilot at Madison's 115th Fighter Wing! Many young professionals may know about Madison's Air National Guard Base, the 115th Fighter Wing, but did you know that the base and its employees contribute approximately $100 million in economic impact to the region each year? Additionally, they provide all emergency and fire services to the Dane County Regional Airport, representing a significant value to the airport and taxpayers. Currently, the 115th Fighter Wing houses an early model of the F-16 aircraft, which are expected to be retired in the 2020's once they have reached a certain number of flight hours. Bases are currently being selected by the Air Force to host the F-35A, a natural successor to the F-16 for training and mission purposes. Acquiring the F-35 would position selected units for continued operations for years to come. The 115th Fighter Wing is among five candidate bases currently are under evaluation, and the Air Force will decide in late 2017 or 2018 if Truax Air National Guard Base will be chosen as one of two Air National Guard bases to receive the aircraft.
