During this seminar, we will cover the following: Estate Planning 101 – Ben and Melissa will introduce the best estate planning strategies for tax reduction, tax deferral, probate avoidance, and efficient administration, and discuss the key documents that comprise an estate plan. Fiduciary Appointments and Duties – The appointment of friends, family or financial institutions is among the most important decisions facing estate planning clients. Ben and Melissa will outline the role each plays in the administration of an estate plan during a client’s lifetime and at death, and highlight the costs and benefits of naming institutional fiduciaries. Business and Succession Planning – Ben and Melissa will discuss the special issues facing business owners and their families in the estate planning process, and summarize the best strategies to facilitate a smooth business transition for both outgoing owners and future generations. Your Presenters Melissa Selinger Melissa advises clients on a broad range of estate planning matters, focusing primarily on advanced wealth transfer and tax-saving techniques. In all cases, her goal is to help clients achieve their unique personal objectives while minimizing estate, gift, generation-skipping transfer and income taxes. Melissa also has significant experience assisting clients with the complicated and often sensitive issues that accompany the probate, estate and trust administration process. She assists clients with the administration of estates at all levels of complexity, ranging in value from modest to extremely high net worth, while being sensitive to the unique family circumstances that arise after the passing of a loved one Ben Brunette Ben advises individuals and fiduciaries throughout the estate planning and administration process, and assists business owners with developing succession and exit planning strategies. Ben frequently works with business owners to craft plans that facilitate the succession of business leadership to family members, business leaders, and key employees. He works closely with clients and other members of their advisory teams, such as accountants and financial advisors, to ensure that business succession plans facilitate owners’ gradual exit without negatively impacting operations. Ben also has substantial experience working with new businesses, advising entrepreneurs at creation, on operational matters, and ultimately through sale and exit.
