Border Challenge 2012
UW Smith Hall Blood Drive
University of Iowa and University of Nebraska, along with University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin enjoy friendly rivalries and competing on the playing field, but they share a common cause. They are helping save lives in the American Red Cross Border Challenge. The goal of the challenge is to have University of Iowa and University of Wisconsin students, staff, faculty and alumni donate blood during the eight-week competition.
The Border Challenge is a partnership between six schools in the Big Ten Conference and the American Red Cross Blood Services. Each of the six schools is working with their local Red Cross to set up blood drives from January 1 through February 29. The goal is to help boost blood supplies during challenging winter months when inclement weather and cold and flu season traditionally impact donors’ availability to give.
